review from the hit sheet :

"Magoo have been circling the fringes of the mainstream for several years now. With critical acclaim from music mags like NME and Melody Maker, and radio support from the likes of XFM, John Peel and Mark Radcliffe, the Norwich band are regulars on the underground circuit. Magoo have had stints with Fierce Panda and Glasgow's Chemikal Underground but are currently unsigned, despite last year's album Realist Week being record of the week on various radio stations. Can't Get Off The Ground Today is a demo from the band's forthcoming fifth studio album, being recorded, "when we can afford enough coins for the meter." It's a subtly affecting track mixing acoustic, organ and xylophone with a calm driving falsetto which emerges from a wash of conversation. A moody and evocative tune, CGOTGT harps back to early Bowie fused with a staccato violin parts and is refreshingly content heavy."
